Banana Pudding

Serves:

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 8 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 bananas, sliced

DIRECTIONS

  1. Bring milk and cream to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Sift sugar, corn starch and salt together. When the milk and cream are at a boil, add the sugar mixture.
  3. Bring mixture back to a boil for 2 minutes, then add egg yolks while whisking.
  4. After a minute, take pot off the heat and add butter and vanilla. Mix.
  5. Add bananas. Cover with foil and let sit 1 hour before serving.
Chef's Note: If you want chocolate pudding (who doesn't love chocolate pudding?), simply substitute 1/2 lb of semi-sweet chocolate chips for the bananas.
