Like so many things that truly make Fairway, Fairway, our private label offering started simply because we love food. We didn’t do it because everyone else was doing it, or for all the standard reasons. While we wanted to continue and deepen our commitment to offer our customers the best values possible, we didn’t even consider the option of compromising the quality of the products that we put our name on. If Fairway Market is going to be the label, then it has to be the best of the best. Period.
Fairway label started with the prepared foods that we offer in our true New York Deli and Appetizing department. Everything that comes out of the Fairway kitchens is either a Fairway original recipe or a treasured “secret” family recipe donated by a team member (most likely unbeknownst to their family!). Either way, you’ll simply call it delish.

Once we mastered the art of prepared foods, our success there paved the way for us to broaden our offering and go beyond our own kitchens to other products and suppliers. Because Fairway is all about the food, our preference has always been, whenever possible, to have direct relationships with the producers. This has enabled us to really learn who was doing what, how they were doing it, and who was doing it the best. And what that translates into when you put a Fairway label on it is the highest quality product at the best possible price. Of all the things we are proud of with respect to the assortment of products we bring you in each Fairway Market, we are most proud of our Fairway label offering. It truly reflects what our company is all about: quality, selection and value.

Walking throughout the store, you’ll see Fairway label products scattered amongst the brand names and specialty items. If you’ve been in a Fairway Market store, it’s very likely that you’ve tasted our incredible, directly-imported, rare barrel olive oils from all over the world. Yes, we know the people who grow the olives, very well, and they know us, too. These precious unfiltered olive oils from places like Spain, Italy, and France are exclusive to Fairway and Time Magazine named them one of The Five Best Presents For Foodies in their 2010 Holiday Shopping Guide. You also dipped a freshly baked Fairway baguette into that olive oil. Yum. Then you noticed the Fairway artisanal vinegars, including premium balsamic. Then you followed the amazing smell of Fairway’s own premises-roasted coffee (learn all about Fairway coffee here). Have you ever smelled anything so heavenly?
Making your way through the aisles, you’ll find Fairway Golden Honey, Organic Maple Syrup, Organic Jams in five flavors, chocolates produced by a small artisanal chocolate maker in Burlington, VT, every spice you can imagine from a small company in Baltimore, olive, artichoke and sundried tomato pastes, and pasta and pizza sauces that rival anything else on the shelf.
Fairway’s own Dried Fruits and Nuts department goes way beyond fruits and nuts, and is a labor of love for Avanelle Rivera. She sources the best dried fruits exclusive to Fairway from France, the largest top-grade almonds from Spain, bulk chocolate, over 20 types, from Belgium, Venezuela, and Ecuador for baking or cravings, Garbanzo beans from Spain, unprocessed Black Barley from Montana, Gooseberries from Columbia, over 30 varieties of trail mixes to die for, and granolas that will intensely satisfy for breakfast.
Once you hit the dairy section, you won’t want to miss our organic milk and eggs from a small Pennsylvania farm. Don’t forget the Fairway bacon and orange juice and you’ve got yourself a great breakfast!

You’ll find there are so many more incredible Fairway label products in our stores than we can possibly mention here, and surely by the time you read this there will be many more. That’s because we are always searching, researching, figuring out what we should bring to you next. The process is exhaustive, but well worth it. If we don’t say, “Hey, this is the best we’ve ever had, let’s give it to our customers at a phenomenal price,” it doesn’t make it onto our shelves. There are countless people who have shopped with us for generations, and we can no more let them down than all of the new Fairway fans that join us every day.
