The warm region of Lakonia in southern Greece is home to the beautiful Glykovrissi valley, which boasts bountiful freshwater springs and abundant olive groves. Many of the olive trees are hundreds of years old and bear fine, green koroneiki olives, harvested and hand-picked at a precise moment by the Doukas family, who have been tending to the trees for generations. The golden-green oil has a powerfully vegetal fragrance pierced with a hint of citrus. The creamy flavors of melted butter woven with ripe stone fruit give way to a softly piquant finish reminiscent of black pepper.

The thick, luxurious texture makes it ideal for drizzling on salads, particularly those dotted with sheep or goats milk cheeses. Marinades and bastes are made better with this olive oil, or try pouring it onto avocado or fresh citrus fruits. Use it as a table condiment or add it to roasted or grilled seafood and veggies.
