Serves: 4
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 cups water
- 4 ripe pears
- 1 vanilla bean, split in half
DIRECTIONS
- Peel the pears.
- Boil sugar and water for 5 minutes.
- Put the pears and split vanilla bean into a stainless steel pot and poach gently for 15 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and let the pears cool.
- Take poached pears out of the pot and cut off the bottoms so they will sit flat on your plate.
- You can serve the pears with the syrup they were poached in or with chocolate sauce.
