Poached Pears

Serves: 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 ripe pears
  • 1 vanilla bean, split in half

DIRECTIONS

  1. Peel the pears.
  2. Boil sugar and water for 5 minutes.
  3. Put the pears and split vanilla bean into a stainless steel pot and poach gently for 15 minutes.
  4. Turn off the heat and let the pears cool.
  5. Take poached pears out of the pot and cut off the bottoms so they will sit flat on your plate.
  6. You can serve the pears with the syrup they were poached in or with chocolate sauce.
