Plucked from the vine at a precise moment before they ripen, Tellicherry peppercorns are robust and almost fruity. Grown in the wet, monsoon-soaked coastal region of Malabar in Southern India, these fine berries are slowly dried after being picked and develop a deep black color as they dehydrate. Sprinkle a pinch of this pepper to season soups, stews, salads, potatoes, and any meal that needs a mild bite. Like fine salt, pepper can be used atop certain desserts to complement fruits like strawberries or raspberries. We also love when pepper is added to ice cream which adds a well-needed kick when scooped atop a dark chocolate dessert like a brownie or slice of cake.
