McCormick Gourmet Organic Ground Allspice adds delicious warm notes of nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon to both sweet and savory dishes. Allspice is not a spice blend but comes from the cured, unripe berries of a tropical evergreen tree found in the West Indies and Central America. Allspice is a must-have for holiday baking, when it joins cinnamon and other warm baking spices in gingerbread, pumpkin pie and spice cookies. Caribbean cuisine features allspice in meat stews and Jamaican jerk seasoning, where it adds fragrant, peppery notes. It adds an aromatic touch to roasted sweet potatoes and squash. We love the unique flavor it brings to Cincinnati chili, and tomato and barbecue sauces. It's amazing what a pinch or two of ground allspice can do!
