Ingredients
8 Nathan's Famous 100% Grass-Fed Beef Uncured Beef Franks
4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
2 cups refrigerated mashed potatoes, warmed
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
Sliced chives and/or green onions for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Line rimmed baking pan with foil. With sharp knife, cut each frank lengthwise in half, but do not cut all the way through, leaving about 1/4-inch uncut.
- In large skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until crisp, stirring occasionally. Transfer bacon to paper towel-lined plate. Makes about 1/2 cup bacon.
- In same skillet with drippings, cook franks, cut side down, over medium heat 3 minutes or until browned, gently pressing down with back of spatula. Transfer franks, cut side up, to prepared pan; top with potatoes and cheese.
- Position oven rack 4 to 5 inches from broiler; preheat broiler to high. Broil hot dogs 2 minutes or until cheese is melted. Makes 8 hot dog boats.
